We are now enrolling for our next group series which will be held in January 2017. We will be holding groups for children ages 7-8 and 9-12. Please email if you are interested in signing up or would like more information.

Summer Groups

We are currently enrolling for our summer groups for ages 7-8, 9-12, and 13-17.We are offering a mindfulness camp for 9-12 year olds that meets twice a week for 3 weeks in both June and July. The June session dates are June 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, and 22. The July session dates are July 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, and 27. We will meet from 11:00am-12:30pm on those Tuesdays and Thursdays.The other two groups meet once a week for 6 weeks. Mind over Matter: Understanding Mindfulness, Part II

Mindfulness is the practice of careful, nonjudgmental attention to yourself and your world. It is founded on the principals of meditation where one intentionally focuses on the present moment. With practice, you can learn to be more alert, attentive and relaxed. Rather than maintaining focus on various aspects of your life by placing stress on yourself, mindfulness can help you become more centered by facilitating greater awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and body sensations.

Mind over Matter: Understanding Mindfulness, Part I

His mother was in a panic. As she stood at the bathroom door, she helplessly watched him in the shower, fully clothed, water off, yelling that he was so mad he wanted to hit something. Visions of bloody glass flying paralyzed her, and then he was quiet. Before she could say anything he began speaking, “Mom, mom, just leave me alone! I need to practice my mindful breathing.” Gradually, he composed himself as he focused on his breath. His racing thoughts and his pounding heart slowed. His body relaxed and his anger seemed to melt away.
